8 Arrested in Jaipur for Leaking NEET Paper; Tamil Nadu Opts Out of NEET

The rumors of NEET paper leak turned out to be true as Jaipur Police detained eight people in connection with the leak.

The paper began at 2 pm and was leaked at 2: 30 pm using online messaging app WhatsApp. Paper was stolen from the Rajasthan Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET) in Jaipur, where the NEET exam was held.

One of the candidates, Dhaneshwari Yadav, was condemned to prison, while the others were placed on detention.

The coaching director, Navratna Swamy, was found to be the mastermind behind the paper leak.

The NEET paper leak case was done for Rs 35 lakh.

Earlier the said entrance exam attracted wide criticism from the students and opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi. Students pleaded that entrance exam date is clashing with other important exams such as CBSE’s compartment exam.

Two days ago, a NEET aspirant in Tamil Nadu committed suicide. Dhanush, 18, who hails from Tamil Nadu’s Salem was found hanging at him home.

The gamily member of the boy said that Dhanush was under immense pressure ahead of entrance test.

Dhanush was said to have attempted the medical entrance twice earlier and was not able to clear the exam.

NEET is conducted in 13 languages across the nation by National Testing Agency (NTA).

This year, the entrance test was also held outside of India. NTA has conducted the exam in Dubai and in Kuwait as well for the NRI students living in Middle East.

Following the death of the boy, Tamil Nadu government passed a bill to stop admission in medical courses thorough NEET. However, it would only be effective if president signs the bill since it challenges central law.

If passed, students in the state will be able to get admission on the basis of 12th result.
