Hindi Film actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan today appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi in on Monday, in a case related to Panama Paper leak.
The actress reached ED’s Jamnagar House office in Delhi following a summon from the ED.
The agency had asked the 48-year-old actress to appear before investigation team that is looking into the matter.
The agency needed to record Rai’s statement in the case over the allegation of stashing wealth abroad under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) 1999.
Sources familiar with the case told the news agency ANI that the actress was summoned earlier too but citing her busy schedule, she had demanded another date.

The Panama Paper is related to leaked documents that hint at tax fraud by many individuals and corporate entities across the world. Aishwarya’s name appeared in the list of 500 Indians who were named in 11.5 million documents that allegedly exposed their involvement in secret offshore dealing.
“The Panama Papers case is a sprawling investigation spanning millions of documents stolen and leaked to the media in 2016, which involve allegations that the world’s rich and powerful set up offshore accounts or shell companies to avoid taxes”, ANI reported.
Over 300 Indians were allegedly named in the Panama Papers including Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. All of them were accused of tax evasion.
Reacting to the allegations, Amitabh Bachchan has said that he sent money abroad conforming the Indian rules only and denied any link with the companies that were name in the massive leak.
“The Leaked financial records of politicians, industrialists and celebrities worldwide were reviewed and published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists”, NDTV reported.
