On October 11, 1942, a legend was born. Bollywood’s biggest actor Amitabh Bachchan, often known as Big B, Bachchan Sahab, and Amit Ji, turns 80.
Big B’s first film was “Saat Hindustani” released in 1969 which marked the beginning of his career. Subsequently, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dr. Bhaskar Banerjee in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s “Anand” (1971).
The 1973 action picture “Zanjeer,” directed by Prakash Mehra, launched Bachchan’s career as an established actor in Bollywood. His character in the movie was Inspector Vijay Khanna. Since then, the actor has played the role of Vijay in other films.
He became known as Bollywood’s “angry young man” because of his roles in films like “Zanjeer” (1972) and “Deewar” (1975).
