The AMU city school is built on the land given by Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, a student of AMU. Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh had given the land to the AMU administration on a lease of 99 years. After the completion of the term in the year 2018, the heirs of Raja Mahendra Pratap approached the AMU administration to give back the land. Several rounds of talks were held between the two sides. The AMU administration sent a related letter to the Ministry of Education.
The AMU administration was asked to work according to the Act from the Ministry of Education. Now an agreement has been reached between both the parties. The AMU administration will name the City High School building on the land after Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. Apart from this, the extra land will be given back to the heirs of Raja Mahendra Pratap.
Aligarh Muslim University spokesperson Shafey Kidwai said that the land for the city school was given on lease by Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. The lease expired in the year 2018. A committee was formed by the executive council of the university that suggested to change the name of the city school.
