AMU: Dr. Jitendra Kumar, of the Faculty of Medicine, has been given 24 hours to respond, according to a statement released by the AMU on Wednesday, he has also issued an unconditional apology.

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has issued a show-cause notice to a lecturer for allegedly “hurting religious sensibilities” of students and staff with a presentation that featured “mythical references” to rape.
Dr. Jitendra Kumar, of the Faculty of Medicine, has been given 24 hours to respond, according to a statement released by the AMU on Wednesday. The professor has also issued an unconditional apology, the statement given by AMU reads.
The university has also constituted a two-member inquiry committee to investigate the issue as suggested by the Dean Faculty of Medicine, Professor Rakesh Bhargava, the notice read. The committee is also expected to make suggestions for how to avoid such incidents from reoccurring.

The statement uploaded on the varsity’s official website, “The Aligarh Muslim University administration and the Faculty of Medicine today strongly condemned the content of a slide on the mythical reference of rape and issued a show-cause notice to Dr. Jitendra Kumar for hurting the religious sentiments of the students, staff, and citizens. He has been asked to submit his reply in 24 hours.”
Promptly acting on the development, a former Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha leader, Nitish Sharma has registered an FIR with the local police.
