AMU Ph.D. scholars today staged a protest against the termination of fellowship during an extended period of Ph.D.

Ph.D. scholars of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today staged a protest against the termination of fellowship during extended period of Ph.D.
The scholars handed over a memorandum to the varsity administration demanding to grant fellowships to scholars even during an extended period of research as other universities do.
The students said that the University Grants Commission has created a guideline under which scholars who have extended their research time above five years are entitled to get fellowships. But, contrary to the UGC guideline, varsity does not provide fellowships to the concerned researchers.

UGC provides a fixed stipend to the researchers who have qualified Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) test.
The students alleged that Aligarh Muslim University does not provide fellowship during the extension period considering researchers as Ex-students.
It is demanded that in relation to the scholarship which is given by the UGC to the JRF / SRF qualified scholars for 5 years and during extension (if any) should also be given to the AMU scholars during the extension period.
Aligarh Muslim University stops the fellowship of the students, violating UGC guidelines. In this regard, the students say that they have asked the university administration many times through application, but no action has been taken by the university.
Student leader Janib Hasan and other students have given a memorandum to the AMU administration demanding required action in this regard at the earliest, if no proper action is taken then we will all be bound for intense agitation.
