The demand to arrest recently converted, former chairman of Shia Waqf board, Uttar Pradesh Wasim Rizvi is being raised on Twitter with more than 50k tweets. Wasim is accused of hurting sentiments of Muslims across the country by disrespecting the Islam and its Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad, peace be upon him.
On Monday, he adopted Hinduism with full customs at the Devi temple in Dasna, Ghaziabad at the hands of Yati Narsinhanand Giri Maharaj. Shia Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi’s new name has been changed to Jitendra Narayan Tyagi.
Rizvi is known for disrespectful remarks against Islam and anything associated to the religion.
There are many instances when Rizvi crossed all limits of free speeches. Here we note some controversies by him revolving around Islam.
Petition in Supreme Court demanding removal of 26 verses
Waseem Rizvi, who filed a petition in the Supreme Court for the removal of 26 verses from the Quran. He said that by teaching these verses, students are misguided. Waseem Rizvi’s lawyer said that these verses are taught in madrassas in order to prepared terrorists.
‘Madrassa clerics are gay’
Many a times, Rizvi spewed venom against madrassas. While serving as the chairman of the Shia Central Waqf Board, Waseem Rizvi had created a controversy with one of his statements. Rizvi had said that the fundamentalist clerics of madrasas are homosexuals.

In the context of the Supreme Court’s decision on homosexuality, Rizvi had said, such people (Maulanas) have got the most relief. Wasim Rizvi said that homosexuality has no place in Islam. Yet in fundamentalist madrasas, Maulana are indulged in ‘homo sex’.
‘Terrorists are born in madrasas, governments should shut it’
Rizvi also urged the government to shut the madrasas as terrorists are prepared in it. Rizvi launched a campaign against madrasas. Rizvi said that nowadays weapons are being recovered in place of books in madrasas of UP, which is a big threat to India in the coming times.
He said that under the guise of suspicious activities going on in madrasas, ISIS soldiers are prepared here. Rizvi said that the government should shut down such madrasas and open schools in their place. Rizvi had added that in the coming times, if the government does not show seriousness over this matter, then children of the madrasa will one day become soldiers of ISIS.
