“Ravana, the son of the great sage Vishrava, was arrogant. There were many drawbacks in him. But he was not ‘Khilji’. Ravana was a great scholar who had a hold on the Vedas and scriptures and was a great devotee of Bholenath who composed the Shiva Tandava Stotra. For this reason, Lord Rama sent Lakshmana to take education from him”, this is how Shubhankar Mishra, news anchor at Aaj Tak criticizes the trailer of Adipurush, a film made on lord Rama
In his opinion, Ravana was an erudite scholar and a devotee of lord Shiva and of course, he was not a Khilji. One thing we need to ask the Hindutva bigot that which kind of devotee of lord Shiva will abduct the wife of Lord Rama also known as Adipurush.?

Subhankar’s tweet simply echoes the prevalent Islamophobia in India and elsewhere. In his tweet, Shubhankar goes to the extent that he justifies the demonic act of Ravan just to further demean a bearded character by associating him with Allauddin Khilji in a vilifying manner.
Mishra, in his nearly heartfelt eulogy to Ravana, the kidnapper of lord Rama’s wife Seeta says, “A lesson is learned from Ravana to renounce lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride, jealousy, mind, knowledge, mind and ego. Otherwise, like Ravana, a hero with appearance, knowledge, patience, renunciation, devotion, and all the characteristics, who could become the lord of Devlok, will be killed like him. But Ravana is not an Afghan or an Uzbek invader.”
Again, he says in his tweet that invading Uzbekistan and Afghanistan by some rulers, which was normal military tactics at that time, is far worse than abducting the innocent wife of Lord Rama who never did anything wrong to anyone.
While abducting Seeta, “Ravan caught her in his arms and pulled her into his magic flying chariot. Sita cried for help and a fierce bird Jatayu attacked Ravana in an effort to stop him. But Ravana cut off the bird’s wings with his sword” (“Princess Sita’s Kidnap”).
But this heinous act of kidnapping a woman that happened to be lord Rama’s wife is nothing in the eyes of people like Shubhankar Mishra but being a Muslim man playing Ravan is a matter of grave concern.
This a avatar of Ravan in Adipurush is not fit.
