India Inches Closer to Third Medal at Olympics

PV Sindhu has advanced to the semi-final in Tokyo Olympics after an actioned pack match. She has beaten Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi by 21-13 and 22-20 on Friday. With this win, India’s hope for another medal has got robust.

Sindhu put her opponent Yamaguchi under pressure from the very beginning of the match with her swashbuckling smashes.

In second set, PV Sindhu faltered for while and then came back thereafter to a thrilling win.

Sindhu, who won a gold at the World Championships in 2019 and a silver at the last Olympics in Rio, is India’s strong hope for medal.

Earlier, boxer Lovlina Borgohain from Assam bagged India its second medal at the Tokyo Olympics after defeating China’s Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen 4-1 to enter the semifinals.

India’s medal hopes in Manu Bhaker, Mary Kom Deepika Kumari were crashes out of the Olympics after losing in their respective sports.
