A 12-hour long grand finale of Indian Idol season 12 aired on 15th August 2021. Whereas Pawandeep Rajan won the title, Arunita Kanjilal and Sayli Kamble ended up being the runner-ups. In the history of Indian television, this show marked a milestone by being the longest-running season of Indian Idol.
Here we are, bringing the sneak peek of what all went wrong this season. Have a look:-
Stretching the show wasn’t a great idea
What it feels like chewing a piece of gum for hours when you can end it in half an hour? This season was indeed chewing gum, and music lovers were fed in a lame zone. The creatives could have chosen formats like having wild cards, challengers, live streaming, and more in that case, to make this season memorable.
Since the show’s start, a significant part of netizens didn’t like ‘Shanmukha Priya’ because of her non-versatile monotonous presence on multiple singing reality shows. People were done hearing her ruin songs and were constantly opposing her presence.
Judges and Anchors were mistaken as guests
This particular season saw multiple personalities taking the judging seat and the hosting mike as every time one or the other wasn’t available. Professional Consistency? Naah. Apart from Aditya Narayan, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Rithvik Dhanjani, and Jay Bhanushali replaced him during the different course of time. Whereas amongst the judges, Sonu Kakkar replaced her sister Neha Kakkar and Anu Malik replaced Vishal Dadlani.
Celebrities calling off the show
Singers like Sunidhi Chauhan and Kishor Kumar’s son Amit Kumar were seen vocalizing how the makers compelled them to speak good of contestants even when they may sing badly. Indian Idol season 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant criticized the show for promoting fake love stories and poverty over real talents.
Well, for a show like this, viewers always have expectations head high. What’s done is dusted, but audiences are definitely demanding some realism in these reality shows for all upcoming shows and seasons.
