
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced an 18-man squad for the three-match T20 series, and three-match ODI against West Indies which begins on February 6. Rohit Sharma will lead India in the one-day and T20 series against Windies.
Virat Kohli is available for both ODIs and T20s, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was seemingly out of form in South Africa’s ground, has been named in the T20 squad.
“Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami have been rested from the series. KL Rahul will be available from 2nd ODI onwards. R Jadeja is undergoing his final stage of recovery post his knee injury and will not be available for the ODIs and T20Is. Axar Patel will be available for the T20Is”, said BCCI.

Team India, that recently finished their tour of South Africa, suffered a dismal loss in the three-match Test series and the 3-match ODI series. Team India, who had been touring South Africa with great anticipation, lost not only in the Test series but also this time in the ODI series. Team India’s whitewash has been the subject of heavy criticism by the cricket fans.

Tamil Nadu-based all-rounder Washington Sundar, who missed South Africa tour last minute due to a Covid-19 infection, managed to make a comeback to Team India. Sundar has been out of international cricket for about 10 months. He last played for India in March 2021. He recently recovered from Injuries and was part of the Tamil Nadu squad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy where is performance was above par that guaranteed his return to the team India.
After a tragic defeat in South Africa, Team India will face the West Indies in their next series, a 3-match ODI series and a 3-match T20I series. The West Indies will tour India to participate in the series. One-day series between the two sides will be followed by a three-match T20I series. The clash between the two sides will begin on February 6 with the first ODI and the third T20 match on February 20.
