Mohan Bhagwat, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief, claimed on Monday that Hindus and Muslims share the same ancestors and that every Indian citizen is a “Hindu” irrespective of their religion.
He urged “sane” Muslim leaders should stand hard against extremist approach, at an event hosted by the Global Strategic Policy Foundation in Pune.
“Motherland, forefathers, and Indian culture were all synonymous with the label Hindu. This isn’t meant to belittle other points of view. We must consider attaining Indian domination rather than Muslim control”, he stated.
Mr Bhagwat stated that everyone should work together for India’s overall growth.
“Invaders brought Islam to India. This is history, and it should be told as such. Unnecessary concerns should be opposed, and moderate Muslim leaders should stand up against extremists and hardliners. The sooner we start doing this, the less damage we’ll do to our civilization”, he stated.

According to the RSS head, India’s status as a powerhouse will not worry anyone.
“The name Hindu is synonymous with our motherland’s rich tradition, forefathers, and culture, and every Indian is a Hindu,” he stated at the “Nation First, Nation Supreme” seminar.
Mr Bhagwat claims that Hindus and Muslims have the same ancestors.
Other notable speakers at the event included Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (retd), Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir.
Mr Khan stated that “Indian culture considers everyone equal” and that “greater variety leads to a prosperous society.”
Muslim intellectuals, according to Lt Gen Hasnain, should fight Pakistan’s attempts to target Indian Muslims.
