In Madhya Pradesh, a famous Mahant Sitaram Das has been booked for raping a minor girl. The incident is from Rewa district of MP. Das had come to Rewa for the religious preaching which was scheduled to be held this week.
A 16-year-old girl has been reportedly raped at a VIP circuit house in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, Additional Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar Verma said.
Verma said the main accused Sitaram Das Maharaj alias Samarth Tripathi is absconding, while his accomplice and notorious criminal Vinod Pandey, who had booked the room at Circuit House and brought the girl there, has been arrested.
Verma said that Tripathi was going to deliver a speech on spirituality in Satna from April 1.
He said- “On Monday, Vinod Pandey brought the girl from Satna. The girl was distressed by a personal issue and sought his assistance. Pandey led her to a room where Tripathi (Mahant) and two other men consumed liquor and forced the girl to drink as well. Everyone, including Pandey, eventually left the room and locked it from the outside. The girl was raped by Tripathi (Mahant), who then called Pandey to unlock the gate. Pandey also attempted to persuade the girl not to tell anybody about the rape…”
After the tragic incident, the girl told her family about it. Following that, the girl’s family filed a complaint with the police. The accused has been charged under sections 342, 504, 323, 328, and 376D of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim, there were five-six people in the room and all of them were drunk. As per the complaint, the victim had also tried to escape from the rape but was failed and beaten up. Along with this, a threat was given to the girl of dangerous consequences if she tells anyone about it.
As soon as the news of the rape spread, people on the internet has started sharing Mahant’s photos with reputed people including high-rank police officers.
In a photo that went viral on social media, Mahant is seen with the police officers. Das is the disciple and grandson of the famous spiritual leader Vedanti Maharaj.
