On Saturday, August 28, 2021, gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari’s elder brother Sigbatullah Ansari and former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Ambika Chaudhary returned to the Samajwadi Party (SP) ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022.

Ambika Chaudhary was also a cabinet minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government but joined BSP just before the Lok Sabha Elections. Now he has joined the Samajwadi Party again.

SP National president Akhilesh Yadav welcomed Sigbatullah and Chaudhary’s entry in SP. He stated “I congratulate Sibgatullah Ansari and his colleagues for joining the party. Your joining will send a message not only in Purvanchal but across the state that the SP government will be formed in 2022.”

He further said, “I welcome Ambika Chaudhary to the party and I also welcome all the companions who came with him to the party. We all will work together that the SP government will come in 2022.”

Ansari Family’s Long Relation With Samajwadi Party

The Ansari family has been a part of the SP in the past. The family had also formed a political party called Qaumi Ekta Dal. Even before the 2017 assembly elections, the Ansari family merged the Qaumi Ekta Dal with the SP. But due to Akhilesh Yadav’s protest, the entire family had to be thrown out of SP.

Two times MLA from Muhammadabad assembly seat, Sigbatullah Ansari, brother of BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari from Mau, joined the SP along with his son Munnu Ansari today in the presence of former Cabinet minister Rajendra Chaudhary.

His brother Afzal Ansari is also BSP MP from Ghazipur. A large number of supporters along with Sibagatullah Ansari also reached the Samajwadi Party office today.

After being expelled from BSP, Sibagatullah, who formed the Qaumi Ekta Dal, is now turing to the Samajwadi Party. It is almost certain that he or his son will be given a ticket in the 2022  assembly elections.

Ambika Chaudhary Gets Emotional

The membership programme at the Samajwadi Party office on Saturday created an emotional atmosphere. Meanwhile, Ambika Chaudhary could not handle himself due to the emotional words from Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and cried in front of Akhilesh Yadav.

Chaudhary, who was obviously touched by this warm welcome, described it as a rebirth. “Today is like a rebirth for me, I want to say a lot but there is a lack of words. Akhilesh has compassionately asked me to include my son and colleagues in the party,” he said.

“There is a desire in my mind which I want to make my resolution and want Akhilesh to be the CM. I will do anything to fulfil my resolve. We have a target till the 2022 assembly election,” Choudhary further remarked.

Ambika Chaudhary, a founding member of the Samajwadi Party, rejoined the party after a five-year break. His son was elected Zilla panchayat president with an SP ticket. Ambika Chaudhary served in Mulayam and Akhilesh governments as a minister.

Just before the 2017 UP assembly elections, Ambika Chaudhary had deserted the SP to join the BSP. He isreferred to as one of the close associates of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
