The nationwide vaccination campaign started against the corona virus pandemic is progressing at a great pace. On Friday, a record more than one crore vaccines were administered across the country. This is the highest number of vaccinations in a day so far. With this, the total vaccination figure in the country has crossed 62 crores.
The vaccination campaign in India was initiated on 16 January, 2021. To reach 10 crore mark, India took 85 days. At the same time, we reached the mark of 10 to 20 crores in 45 days.To reach 20 to 30 crores, India took 29 days. India took 24 days to reach the figure of 30 to 40 crores. On August 6, vaccination in the country had crossed the 50 crore mark.
Uttar Pradesh topped the list where more than 28 lakh vaccines were administered on Friday. It was followed by Karnataka at number two where more than 10 lakh vaccines were administered.
According to the information available on the Cowin portal, a total of 62 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country so far. Of these, 48 crore 8 lakh 78 thousand 410 people have been given the first dose of the vaccine. At the same time, 14 crore eight lakh 28 thousand 472 people have been given the second dose of the vaccine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also appreciated this achievement of administering more than one crore anti-coronavirus vaccines in a day. Prime Minister Modi wrote in the tweet, “Record number of vaccinations today! Crossing the one crore mark is a significant achievement. Congratulations to those who got vaccinated and those who made the vaccination campaign a success.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote in a tweet, “One crore vaccine in a day! This figure is a reflection of the strong will and immense potential of New India. With a visionary and hardworking leadership, how a country can set an example in the whole world while fighting a successful battle with Corona, this Narendra Modi-led New India has shown the world.”
Dr NK Arora, Head, National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) said that it is a matter of pride for the Indian health system to deliver 10 million doses of corona virus vaccines in a single day today. This will be recorded in the history of vaccination against corona.
He said that even with 63,000 vaccination centres, we are able to deliver more than one crore doses of corona vaccine. We can vaccinate Switzerland and Scandinavian countries in a single day.
