In the run-up to Uttar Assembly elections in 2022, the Bhartiya Janta Party is all ready with its scheme to lure the populace of the most populous state of the country.
In that order, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to interact with the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana in Uttar Pradesh, on August 5 via video conferencing, according the press release by the Prime Minister Office.
Uttar Pradesh government plans to celebrate August 5 as Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Day with the aim to spread awareness about the Yojana and to ensure the no beneficiary left out from availing the benefits of the scheme.
According to the Prime Minister Office, “Almost 15 crore beneficiaries of the state have been getting ration free of cost through Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Nearly 80,000 Fair price shops in the state have been distributing food grains to the beneficiaries of the scheme”.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will also be available at the event.
Earlier, Prime Minister held such interaction with the people of Gujarat. While addressing the event via video conferencing PM said, “Addressing the event, the Prime Minister said that lakhs of families in Gujarat are getting free ration under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana. This free ration reduces distress for the poor and gives them confidence. He said that the poor should feel that whatever might be the calamity, the country is with him”.
Prime Minster added that after independence almost all government tried to distribute ration to the poor and the budget for the same kept increasing over the year but the result couldn’t match the expectations.
“The Prime Minister said today, in addition to the quota of wheat at Rs 2/kg, rice at Rs 3/kg, 5 kg of wheat and rice is being given free to every beneficiary. That is, almost double the amount of ration is being provided to the ration card holders than before this scheme started”, PM said at the online event.
“This scheme is going to continue till Diwali. No poor will sleep hungry, said the Prime Minister. He praised the Gujarat government for taking care of the migrant labourers, fulfilling the purpose of One Nation One Ration Card Initiative”, said PM Modi.
