Lahore fans had such a night to remember on Sunday as their favourite Lahore Qalandars finally won their first Pakistan Super League title by defeating Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the final at Gaddafi Stadium, putting an end to years of wait and desparation.
Lahore Qalandars bowled Multan Sultans out for 138 runs after posting 180 runs. Multan Sultans had reached the PSL final after dominating the league phase. The team captained by Mohammad Rizwan won nine of their ten games to take the lead in the rankings. They advanced to the final after defeating Lahore Qalandars in the playoffs. Qalandars, on the other hand, came in second place in the standings with six victories out of ten before losing in the playoffs against Sultans. They advanced to the final after defeating Islamabad United in an Eliminator.
The wickets started to fall off the Multan innings in the fourth over as Mohammad Hafeez bowled Rizwan around the legs. The defending champions continued to lose wickets at regular intervals after Rizwan’s departure, and were quickly reduced to 63/5.

Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of the Multan Sultans, has been crowned Player of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for his outstanding and consistent performance.
Fakhar Zaman of the Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan won the best batsman and bowling awards, respectively. Shadab Khan finished the tournament with 19 wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 6.47, while Fakhar scored 588 runs with a strike rate of 153.
Khushdil Shah of the Sultans was named all-rounder of PSL 2022 after scoring 153 runs at an average of 182 and taking 16 wickets at an economy rate of 6.9. He also won the Fielder of HBL PSL 2022 award.
