Rahul Gandhi visits the bereaved family of 9-year-old Dalit girl who was allegedly raped, killed and unceremoniously cremated in an attempt to expunge the possibility of getting caught under the rule of law. Gandhi visits the family at the ongoing protest in South West Delhi over the alleged rape.
“I spoke with the family; they want justice & nothing else. They’re saying that justice is not being given to them & they should be helped. We will do that. I have said that I am standing with them. Rahul Gandhi is standing with them until they get justice,” Gandhi told news agency ANI.
“The tears of her parents say just one thing – their daughter, the country’s daughter, deserves justice. And I am with them till they get justice,” Rahul tweeted post his meeting with the bereaved family.
On Sunday, the had gone to fetch water for the family at the crematorium where she was allegedly raped by the priest of the crematorium Radhe Shyam and two-three others, the police told the media.
Girl’s mother alleged the priest and others of raping the girl and unceremoniously cremating her without informing girl’s parents. The girl’s parents also suspect that the girl was initially raped before getting cremated.
Meanwhile, the forensic team was not able to ascertain the actual cause of death as she brutally charred before getting to the hospital.
BJP has termed Rahul’s visit as political stunt. Meanwhile, National Commission for Protection of Children’s Rights (NCPCR) has issued multiple notices to Delhi Police and Twitter citing that Rahul has breached the Juvenile Justice and POCSO Acts by revealing the identity of child victim.
