In one of the most insensitive cases for our society, a 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping an infant girl in his neighborhood who was just one and a half years old in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar police on Tuesdays.
The police said that the one and half-year-old girl and accused Ravi Rai, both, residents of the Kushinagar district frequently played together.
Ravi went to the child’s home on Monday night and picked her up, telling her family that he would bring her toys and chocolates.
After two hours, when Ravi did not return home, the family members of the girl went to Ravi’s house to inquire about the girl but she was not there.
After that, the family members informed the police. Ravi confessed to raping the infant girl when being questioned by the police. The girl was found by police on a farm.
Police filed a case against the man under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in response to the complaint by the girl’s kin.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ritesh Kumar Singh stated, “We received information that a 22-year-old man lured a baby girl on the premise of buying her chocolates and toys, and then raped her.”
He stated that the infant girl is receiving treatment at a hospital and that police have arrested the suspect. The ASI further stated that police have launched an investigation and are looking into the case from all angles.
