Mahad Court granted bail to Union Minster Narayan Rane in one of four FIRs registered against him. The court granted bail on a Rs15000 personal bond.
Earliere, Raigad Police had arrested Rana for his remark against the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey.
Rane had said that, he would have slapped Uddhav Thackeray over over his alleged ignorance of the year of India’s Independence.
He was apprehended today by Ratnagiri police and was taken to Mahad court.
The magistrate observed that the necessary procedures were not taken by the police before arresting the union minister.
However, the court has put conditions on his bails that he would not commit such offence in future and will be present before police on August 30 and September 13.
During his Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Raigad, Rane alleged that Uddhav Thackeray forgot the year of independence during his speech on August 15 as he had to check the year amid the speech.
“He leaned back to enquire about the count of years of independence during his speech. Had I been there, I would have given (Thackeray) a tight slap”, Rane had said.
Narayan Rane who was recenty inducted in Narendra Modi’s cabinet in July was arrested under sections 505(2), 153A (1)(provoke to riot), 506(criminal intimidation), 504, 189 (threat of injury to public servant) of the IPC.
