India successfully tested new version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile at the coast of Odisha in Balasore, defence sources informed the news agency ANI.
According to the source, “the missile was equipped with new technological development which were successfully proven.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated the continuous effort of DRDO teams and industry for successful test. Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Secy Dept of Defence R&D & Chairman DRDO also complimented the incessant efforts of scientists & engineers involved in the mission for “maximizing the weapon systems efficiency.”

A DRDO official said, “”Advanced Sea to sea variant of BrahMos Supersonic Cruise missile was tested from INS Visakhapatnam today. The missile hit the designated target ship precisely.”
It was a joint venture between India and Russia where Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) represents the India. The cruise missile was tested from INS Visakhapatnam, Indian Navy’s latest warship which was recently inducted to the force.
“BrahMos is the main weapon system of the Indian Navy warships and have been deployed on almost all of its surface platforms. An underwater version is also being developed which will not only be used by the submarines of India but will also be offered for export to friendly foreign nations”, ANI reported.
