‘Indian government doesn’t care about our lives: Indian student living in Ukraine erupts in anger (Video: NDTV)

Amidst the Russia’s invasion, many Indian students are stuck in war-ravaged Ukraine. Students are worried for their life as Indian government are not able to rescue them. About 20 thousand Indians are trapped in Ukraine.

Earlier today, due to the Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, main airport in Ukraine’s Kyiv has been shut down and people are advised to go back from where they have come.

Indian students worried for life

A student from Rajasthan living in Ukraine has shared her ordeal, she told that some of my friends were going to Kyiv, during which the bomb exploded and they were stopped in the middle of the way. At the same time, he said that the Indian government does not care about our lives.

Students are stuck in between way to airport and Indian embassy in Ukraine is not responding to us, the student in Ukraine said to NDTV.

MoS MEA, V Muraleedharan told the media, “MEA is taking steps to bring back about 18,000 Indians incl students from Ukraine. As the air space in Ukraine is closed, alternative arrangements are being made for the evacuation of Indian nationals. Central govt will ensure the safety of all Indians.”

“I spoke to Malayali students in Ukraine on phone. Indian students in the southern areas of Ukraine have told us that they’re getting food, water & power. Students & parents should not panic. Our govt has brought back Indians even from places like Iraq”, he said.

Junaid Khan, another Indian student studying in Ukraine, was out for shopping when he heard a loud explosion. As the tensions rose, he received notice that his flight to India had been cancelled.
“I heard four or five bombs while talking to my friends in Kyiv. They were terrified and screaming’  Junaid told NDTV from the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia.

“I sincerely hope that the Indians will be evacuated. I’m not sure whether you’re aware, but the Russian army has taken control of two key cities in Ukraine. We’re terrified…patrolling is taking place ” he stated.
