A 22-Year-Old man in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasgaj has found dead while he was under police custody for his alleged role in kidnapping of a women. Altaf from Nagla Syed Colony of Kasganj was detained for questioning by the Kasganj police on Tuesday in a case pertaining to IPC section 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel her marriage).
The police said in a statement that the boy committed suicide while he was in washroom using a string of his jacket hood. But the parents of the youth suspect that he was murdered by the police.

The Samajwadi Party has lambasted at the Yogi government for “yet another custodial death” in Uttar Pradesh and said that police and criminals are encountering the law and order in the state.

Akhilesh Yadav on his twitter account said, “The case of death in the police station of a young man brought for questioning in Kasganj is very suspicious. The suspension of some policemen in the name of negligence is just a sham act. There must be a judicial inquiry in this matter for justice and restoration of trust in the police under the rule of BJP.”
People on social media have started suspecting Uttar Pradesh Police claims that the boy committed suicide as the pipe from which Altaf hung himself was at approximately 3 feet height and Altaf’s height was 5’6”, according to a screen grab shared by Akhilesh Yadav.
Congress general secretary and Congress’ election campaign face in the state Priyanka Gandhi also attacked the Uttar Pradesh government over the worsening law and order situation in the state. Priyanka Gandhi said, “It is clear from incidents like the death of Altaf in Kasganj, Arun Valmiki in Agra, Rajesh Kori in Sultanpur in police custody that the protectors have become predators. UP tops the country in terms of police custodial death. The law-and-order situation is in complete disarray under the BJP rule. No one is safe here.”
Meanwhile the body remain of Altaf was handed over to the family and was cremated at local graveyard. A large number of people were present at the funeral of Altaf, where heavy police personnel were also deployed as a precautionary measure. Police forces from Etah and Aligarh were also brought in to handle the situation.
