In a what it could be termed as most embarrassing moment for Yogi Adityanath as a leader when he likened women with animals in terms of safety. Many on twitter has lambasted CM Yogi for his statement calling it condemnable.
Speaking at an event in Lucknow on Monday, UP CM Aditynath said, “Earlier our daughters, sisters felt unsafe. Even buffaloes, bulls didn’t feel safe. These problems persisted in Western UP, not eastern UP. Potholes on roads symbolized UP. But it’s not the same today. Can you not see the difference”.
However many on internet has contrasted with Aditynath’s claim and said, “Perhaps victims of Unnao and Hathras (rape case) were not your sisters and there are lot more names beside this. You were not able to fill potholes of Varanasi and Gorakhpur, let alone whole Uttar Pradesh. In your regime only cows are safe.”
Another tweeter user vehemently criticised Adityanath’s claim of women security in Uttar Pradesh and said, “Sorry sir, except for Lucknow with its Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb I don’t feel safe anywhere in UP, not even in Noida, so-called area of excellence. Please see the rape and sexual assault track record since you took office, the statistics will bust your claim.”
Serial Offender of Women Dignity
It is not the first time when Yogi Aditynath demeaned women, earlier too he compared women with urja (energy) thus needs to be controlled.

According to a report published in the NDTV in 2017, he had said, “Shastras have talked about giving protection to women. Just like urja (energy) left free and unchecked causes destruction, women also don’t need independence, they need protection and proper channelization. Stree shakti (women’s power) is protected by the father when a child, by the husband when an adult and by the son in old age. Women cannot be left independent or free.”
Then again he had said that if women imbibe men-like qualities they become monsters. According to a The Economics Times article Yogi Aditynath had said in an artcle published in his website, “If men acquire women-like qualities, they become gods but when women acquire men like qualities, they become (‘rakshasa’) demon like. Serious thought must be given to these issues. What if this leads to the creation of the Frankenstien’s monster (Chale they ganesh banane, ban gaye vaanar).”
It is so disgusting for us as a society that a CM of the most populated state talks like this about women and their freedom and rights. As a society, we again need to ponder over our process of selection of leaders.
